    We understand that social connection lies at the heart of well-being. We care deeply about uncovering belonging and social connection within local communities - whether they be suburbs, neighbourhoods, shires or new housing developments. We activate new communities, bring together existing communities and create strategies for the well-being and direction of the community.


    The world of work is changing rapidly, and so are the expectations we have for the role of business in the individual needs of their employees, clients, stakeholders and the communities they work in. We help organisations and businesses use strategic storytelling and social connection to build values, collect ‘data with soul’ and create training, community building or communications solutions that result in positive change.


    In 2050, 1 in 4 people will be over 65 and we see this as a tremendous opportunity. We are passionate about re-writing the ageing narrative and working with community partners and the ageing industry to ensure older people are heard, valued and contributing to their communities. We design intergenerational programs that connect younger and older people through mutual value and the power of storytelling.

  • Strategic Storytelling and Social Connection

    We all have an innate need to connect and to belong. Research shows that social connection lies at the heart of health, yet few of us realise just how important it is. Lonely people are more vulnerable to anxiety, depression, anti-social behaviour and other physical and mental health issues. In reverse, when people feel connected and have a sense of belonging, they can be mentally and physically strong and more resilient in difficult times.


    At Humankind Enterprises, we build connection in communities through the ancient art of storytelling. Storytelling is a means of connection that all known human cultures have used to bring people together, and is linked to enhanced empathy, belonging, trust and collaboration. Storytelling doesn’t just create bonds between individuals - it also helps form collective narratives, and connect people to shared purposes in their organisation or community. Stories shape people and they shape society.


    We support communities to come together to share stories, however we know face to face storytelling is not always possible. We use the power of digital storytelling (found to be just as effective at inducing empathy) and work with our clients to share and amplify these stories to reach wide and diverse audiences.

  • Case Study Spotlight

    Connection in Corangamite

    Studies within Corangamite Shire have found that young people have low levels of belonging and connectedness. Over the past 2 years, we have sought to address this through the 'We Know Your Name, But What's Your Story?' project. We have worked in every school in the Shire, running our Empathy and Social Connection workshops, as well as a 3-day Ambassador Training, where we trained youth to be Story Collectors and interview local community members. The stories that were recorded were turned into a video that is currently being shared to catalyse more social connections.


    This Girl Can VIC

    VicHealth launched the 'This Girl Can VIC' campaign to celebrate women who are all kinds of active, despite what challenges or setbacks they may face. We are involved in the community engagement arm of the campaign, travelling around Victoria and collecting the stories of women in our mobile StoryPod. We have now collected hundreds of stories and spoken to thousands of people. Our StoryPod has enabled an extremely diverse range of women to talk about how and why they get active and to try and break the stigmas associated with getting fit and healthy.

    Sophie is a creative and visionary leader with expertise in strategic storytelling, community engagement and advocacy. She is passionate about systems change and capacity building. Before starting HKE, Sophie spent 6 years working in the non-profit and international development sector.

    John Rbeiz

    COO / StoryPod Lead

    John has a background in technology and personal
    development. He is passionate about growth and performance and believes the key to a successful business is a well connected, heart-beating culture. John wants to transform the way corporates operate, one story at a time.


    Marielle Pastor

    Engagement Support

    Mari has a background in psychology, communication, and coaching. She is passionate about mental health and inclusivity. Mari supports our strategic storytelling work, especially our StoryPod engagement tool and our Story Synthesis service.

    Kathleen Lee


    Kathleen is a filmmaker and musician who helps us capture the intimate stories of communities we work with. Whether it's recording the untold stories of 80 year old nuns or the future aspirations of young people, Kathleen helps us make videos that connect people and ideas. She is also a musician.

    Partnership Advisor

    Ben has 10 years experience in sales with a specialisation in software solutions and impact-driven outcomes. Ben works with us to build our network of clients, partners and funders to raise our capacity for meaningful change. He believes that storytelling and human connection and precursors to success.

Humankind Enterprises is committed to providing quality services to you and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.

What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. Examples of Personal Information we collect include: names, addresses, email addresses, phone and facsimile numbers.

This Personal Information is obtained in many ways including interviews, social media forms, correspondence, by telephone and facsimile, by email, via our website www.humankind.enterprises, from media and publications, from other publicly available sources and from third parties. We don’t guarantee website links or policy of authorised third parties.

We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you, providing information to our clients and marketing. We may also use your Personal Information for secondary purposes closely related to the primary purpose, in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. You may unsubscribe from our mailing/marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing.

When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.

Sensitive Information
Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.
Sensitive information will be used by us only:
•	For the primary purpose for which it was obtained
•	For a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose

Third Parties
Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

Security of Personal Information

Humankind Enterprises will not charge any fee for your access request.
In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

It is an important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will  take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
